Welcome on the website of the Phlomis tuberosa Nature Conservation Group!

Please let us to shortly present our activity to You!

The Group was founded in Nógrád county, mainly by young teachers and students, in 1996.Primary aims are the exposure and the promotion of the protection of the natural values in the Cserhátalja, which is our tighter working area. This activity is continued by participation of the students and undergraduates, and the resoults are published in different publications and reported on presentations. In the membership there are 47 persons right now.

Floristical and zoological surveyings were done in the Cserhátalja, at the beginning, but lately the focus is on the western part of the Mátra and the Eastern-Cserhát. Non-protected but very important habitats can be found in both places. The surveying of the insect- and vertebrate fauna has been started and the initial resoults are very encouraging. Several endangered plant communities, numerous protected plant- and animal species can be found here. We cooperate with the experts of the Bükki National Park, so the collected datas are handed over to them. During the surveying of the natural areas, in 1998 that meant important information for the ranging of the places. The researchers of the Mátra Museum of Gyöngyös helped us with the entomological surveying, where the collected insects could be placed. Undergraduates of the University of Debrecen, EFE Sopron, DATE Szarvas, and high school students took part of the surveyings.

The supporters of the research programs were the Central Environment Protection Fund, "h" Fund and the Independent Ecological Center. We have an eminent partnership with the Életfa Environment protection Association and the Nimfea Nature conservation Association. A wet-meadow owned by the Nimfea Nature Conservation Association is looked after and treated by us.

We generally took part of the competition of the Ministry of Environment Protection, called "Surveying of the natural values of the non-protected areas", where we have two first and a advantaged first position.
